The P&C provides a way for parents to become involved in their child's education. Student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their child's education and good schools become even better schools when parents are involved.
Cootamundra Public School has an active group of parents who volunteer their time and skills to organise a variety of events, stalls and fundraisers throughout the year. These activities are not only a way of raising funds for much needed school resources or activities, but they also help to create a sense of community in our school. The P&C is also responsible for the School Canteen
P&C Meetings
The P&C meets on the second Tuesday of each month during the school term. We meet at 6 pm in the school staff room. Our Principal, Lucy Greene, attends all P&C meetings and reports on school activities giving us an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback or opinions from a parent's point of view. We also use this time to prepare for upcoming activities and to review requests for funding from the school.
Supporting the School
The money raised by the P&C is used to support the school on the advisement of the Principal and teachers. All requests are discussed during P&C meetings. In the past, we have assisted with the purchases of classroom readers, excursion support (which ensures individual child costs are as low as possible), classroom furniture, playground equipment and more.
We are also pleased to provide kindergarten children with a school bucket hat and a Stickybeaks lunch wallet to used at the canteen.
Volunteers Welcomed and Encouraged
All parents are encouraged to get involved with P&C activities. We realise everyone is busy and it is often hard to make it to meetings, however, any help big or small is greatly appreciated. If you would like to find out how to get involved with the P&C please contact us at

How to Stay in the Loop
The P&C regularly include information about upcoming events and activities in the school newsletter. We also ask for volunteers and/or donations from time to time.
We also used Facebook to communicate with the school community. Posts range from 'what is my child supposed to wear for his item today' to 'volunteers needed to help on the father's day stall' and everything in between. If you would like to be a member of this closed group, please email us and you will be invited to join. Our group is called "CPS Fundraising Committee & CPRs".
P&C Event Highlights
- The Art Show: Each child creates a unique and original piece of art which is on display and available to purchase during an evening art show and BBQ dinner.
- The School Fete: Held on a Saturday on the school grounds, the Fete is a fantastic day for the whole family. Pick up a bargain at the stalls, play a game or two, win a prize and generally have fun while also raising money for our school.
- Mother's and Father's Day Stalls: The P&C sets up a 'shop' in the school hall and invites all students to pick something special for their Mum or Dad. Prices range from 50c up to $20 so there is something for everyone. A great way for students to independently shop, use maths and budget.
