School stories and highlights

Our School hosts swimming and athletics carnivals (pictured) throughout the year. Carnivals are an opportunity for students to qualify for further competition through the Primary School Sports Association (PSSA), continuing onto further events such as Zone, Regional and State Championships.

Our school has 4 house colours for sports events and students are assigned one of the following:

Tuldar (meaning Stars): Green

Allunga (meaning Sun): Yellow

Birubi (meaning Southern Cross): Blue

Kurra (meaning Storm): Red

The Book Week Parade is an annual event that our school delights in participating in! The event in August is an opportunity for our community of schools to gather together and celebrate our shared love of literature.

Students and staff alike enjoy dressing as favourite book characters for the day, and the event culminates in a main street parade for the Cootamundra community to enjoy.

Celebration Days, like Harmony Day (pictured) occur regularly throughout the year.

Harmony Day, Jump Rope for Heart, The Biggest Morning Tea, Footy Colours Day and Daffodil Day provide an opportunity for the students to focus on their fundraising efforts for various charities and causes.

Our school participates in commemorative events such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day each year.

Students have the option to involve themselves in this event by joining the school and community in the ANZAC march on the 25th April.

School excursions are a highlight throughout the year, enriching classroom curriculum and allowing students to explore places and ideas beyond our school environment. Pictured here are Stage 1 students at Canberra Zoo and Aquarium.

School camp occurs each year for both Year 5 and Year 6. Camp provides an opportunity for students to bond and build strong friendships, while also gaining new skills, challenging themselves beyond their comfort zone, building independence, and growing together as a team through the shared experiences on offer.

Music programs enrich our school's creative learning. We are proud to say that our school provides a variety of music programs, such as a weekly percussion drumming session, choral eisteddfods, and our annual involvement in the string instrument component of the Festival of Instrumental Music held at the Opera House (pictured) each year.
